GLOSSARY · RISK & PERFORMANCE

What is First Target (T1)?

T1 is the first profit target on a trade, where traders often take partial or full profit.

Many systems set T1 at a fixed multiple of risk, such as 1.5R, with optional T2 and T3 targets for runners. Taking profit at T1 locks in gains; moving the stop to break-even protects the rest.

EXAMPLE

Entry 5,000, stop 4,996, T1 at 1.5R = 5,006. Exit half at 5,006, move the stop to 5,000 and let the rest run.
