GLOSSARY · RISK & PERFORMANCE

What is Slippage?

Slippage is the difference between the price you expected and the price you got.

Market and stop orders fill at the next available price. In fast markets — news releases, the open — that can be several ticks away. Liquid contracts like ES usually slip less than thin ones.

EXAMPLE

Your NQ stop at 20,000 fills at 19,998.50 during a CPI spike: 6 ticks of slippage = $30 per contract.
